Wildlife Crossings

I never really thought too much about the issue, but when I saw an image about efforts to save wildlife along major roadways, I was thoroughly impressed with the effort!  It seems that wildlife crossings (or bridges) like this one have been constructed in many countries to provide wildlife with the means to cross busy roads safely.

This is just one of the highly creative ways that humanity is taking responsibility for its stewardship of our Earth and its fellow creatures–and I’m very glad to see it happening more and more frequently!

Life Goes On

Life goes on...

Life goes on…

This brief video carries a powerful and inspiring message for life.  It may take a moment to figure out the meaning of the message at the end (at least it did me), but when it does hit home, you might need to have a tissue or two handy.

Remembering Schoep

I remember seeing a heartwarming photo and story about a Wisconsin man, John Unger, and his beloved dog, Schoep some time ago.  Schoep loved to be in the water, but when arthritis made it painful and difficult for him to swim, John would carry Schoep into Lake Superior and comfort him there–sometimes for hours at a time.

In searching for an update about Schoep and John, I was saddened to find that Schoep had passed away.  It seems however, that John has since found a new four-legged companion!

I’m so grateful that John is recovering from his loss and that he has been able to share his love with another dog who needed a home!
